Is Zoku free?
Yes, Zoku is free on Android and iOS. The shared calendar, the shared shopping list, the to-do list, the family chat and all the basics are available without paying. An optional Premium plan unlocks the weekly calendar view, the subscription link and synced calendars (Google, Apple, Outlook), unlimited checkpoints, multiple shopping and task lists with no item cap (free plan: one list of each, 30 items per list), the barcode scanner for home stock and more.
Which platforms does Zoku run on?
Zoku is an Android and iOS app, available for free on Google Play and on the App Store. It runs on every recent phone and tablet: Android, iPhone and iPad. Syncing between members of your tribe is instant through the cloud, whichever platform each of you is on.
Can I import my Google, Apple or Outlook calendar into Zoku?
Yes, for free: export your calendar as an .ics file (Google gives you a .zip with one .ics per calendar) and import it into Zoku. Before anything is saved, a full preview shows what will be added, updated, adapted or skipped, and you tick what to import. Duplicates are detected, and re-importing the same file updates events instead of duplicating them. Recurring, all-day and multi-day events and time zones are handled. With Premium you go further: your subscription link shows the tribe calendar in Google, Apple or Outlook (everyone only sees what they can see in Zoku), and up to 3 synced calendars per member bring your personal calendars into Zoku, refreshed automatically every 3 hours.
How does the shared shopping list work?
Every member of the tribe sees and edits the same shopping list in real time. You can add items by hand, straight from your meal planner, or by scanning a barcode. Ticked items can automatically feed your home stock inventory.
Does Zoku handle shared custody and blended families?
Yes. The Multi-Tribe mode lets you create or join several households — a mum household, a dad household, a houseshare, a holiday group — and switch between them with one tap. Data stays strictly separated between tribes.
How does home stock management with the barcode scanner work?
You scan a product barcode to pre-fill its details, add it to a storage zone (fridge, cupboards, bathroom, garage…) and set a low-stock threshold and an expiry date. Zoku alerts you when stock runs low or the date is near, and offers to add the product to your shopping list in one tap. On the free plan you manage one zone (the fridge) by hand; the scanner, extra zones, push notifications and sending to the shopping list are part of Premium.
How does Zoku handle shared household expenses?
The Kitty lets you log an expense in seconds (amount, payer, description, currency) and attach a photo of the receipt. You can filter by member or date range, and see the total plus the breakdown per payer. Ideal for a couple, a houseshare or a blended family budget.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Zoku uses Firebase authentication, TLS encryption for every exchange, and stores your data in a secured environment. You can export or delete your account and your data at any time, in line with the GDPR.
