App for couples: run life together without one of you becoming the manager
Shared calendar, shopping list, weekly meals, common budget. For couples with or without children. Android and iOS.
In every couple there is the one who knows when the rent is due, what is left in the fridge and what time dinner at your parents' is on Saturday. And the one who asks. That imbalance starts long before children. Zoku gives the couple a shared space where the information lives outside one head, and leaves each of you your other tribes alongside.
The real friction of living together
Said out loud, in the kitchen, on a Tuesday. The shared phone calendar exists, but nobody opens it because it is empty.
Asked at 7.12pm, every night, by the same person. The other has no opinion. The delivery app does.
Without a joint account, one of you fronts more often. Nobody is counting, until the day one of you counts.
Two families, two sets of friends, two work calendars. The couple is where everything meets, and it has no tool for it.
How Zoku is built for a couple
The two of you, nobody else. Calendar, groceries, meals, stock, expenses, chat. The minimum viable household.
Seven dinners planned, ingredients sent to the shopping list with one tap ⭐. The 7.12pm question disappears.
Each of you pays with your own card and logs the expense in your name. At month's end, the total per payer says who fronted what. No bank to change.
Your parents' tribe, his friends' holiday tribe, your old flatshare. Kept apart. The couple only sees the couple.
A setup that works
Nora and Julian have lived together for a year.
- Tribe « Us »:Nora and Julian. Shared calendar (dinners, weekends, flat appointments), shopping list, weekly menus, fridge stock, La Caisse for shared expenses, chat for everyday things.
- Tribe « Nora's family »:Nora, her parents, her sister. Birthdays, Christmas, weekends at Nan's. Julian is not in it, unless invited.
- Tribe « Holiday crew »:Julian and six friends for the August rental. Kitty, groceries, who arrives when.
On Sunday evening they plan the dinners in At Table and the shopping list fills itself. Julian goes to the supermarket on Tuesday, ticks off, the stock updates ⭐, the expense goes into La Caisse in his name. On Saturday, Nora's mother calls: Nora checks the « Us » calendar, no need to ask.
→ Organising group holidays · → The day the tribe becomes three
Balance and privacy
- No « head of household ». Both of you are admins, or neither. You choose.
- Expense visibility per line: a birthday present logged as « private » stays invisible until the day.
- No continuous location. Outdoors works on voluntary check-in: « home in 10 minutes », not a dot on a map all day.
- Separation between the couple's tribe and each of your family tribes.
- Data encrypted in transit (TLS), hosted in Europe, exportable and deletable (GDPR).
FAQ - Zoku for couples
Isn't Zoku an app for families with children?
Zoku is an app for tribes. A couple is a tribe of two. Every feature is useful to two people (calendar, groceries, meals, budget) and the tribe grows if the family ever does.
Can we track a shared budget without a joint account?
Yes, that is exactly what La Caisse is for. Every expense has its payer; the monthly filter shows what each of you fronted. Balancing happens between you.
Does my partner see my other tribes?
No. Every tribe is kept apart. Your family, your friends, your old flatshare: invisible from the couple's tribe.
Can we hide an expense, a present for instance?
Yes. An expense can be private: it counts for you, and it does not appear to the other.
And if we split up?
You leave the tribe or delete it. Your other tribes are unaffected, and your data stays exportable (GDPR).
Is it free?
Yes. Calendar, groceries, meals, La Caisse, chat, stock with one zone and check-in are free. Premium adds the weekly view, ingredients to the list and multiple lists.
