A new baby: organise the household together before it all lands on one of you

The Android and iOS app for new parents who want to share the load from the very first weeks.

Research on mental load all says the same thing: the imbalance sets in during the months after a birth, and it is almost never recovered. Not out of bad will, but because one person ends up being the one who knows where the nappies are, when the health visitor is due and what is left in the freezer. Zoku puts that information in a shared place, not in one head, from the day you come home.

Free on Android and iOS. Grandparents in their own tribe, if you like.

The real friction of the first months

« Have we got any nappies left? »

Size 2, size 3, wipes, formula. A baby's stock turns over fast and is discovered empty at 11pm.

« When is the next appointment? »

GP, health visitor, jabs, midwife, osteopath. The red book is in the bag, the bag is in the car, the car is at work.

« What are we eating? Nothing, we forgot »

Meals are the first thing to go. Three weeks of pasta and takeaways, then the guilt.

« Can you let your mum know? »

Two families wanting news, wanting to visit, wanting to help. And a couple with no bandwidth to coordinate.

How Zoku is built for a new baby

The medical calendar, shared

Every appointment with a reminder, assigned to whoever is going, notes attached ⭐. Both parents know, not just one.

Radar: the baby's stock

Nappies by size, formula, wipes, each with a low-stock threshold. Warning before you run out, one tap to the shopping list ⭐.

At Table: meals you stop thinking about

Weekly menus planned on Sunday, ingredients sent to the list ⭐. Or Alfred by voice, baby in your arms.

Check: tasks with a name on them

« Book the jabs », « Call the nursery », « Baby washing ». Assigned, not assumed. Sharing the load starts here.

La Caisse: the baby budget

Pram, pharmacy, nursery: every expense with its payer. A first child's budget becomes visible before month's end.

A grandparents tribe, alongside

For visits, weekends of childcare and photos, without giving access to the couple's daily life.

→ Mental load, and how to share it · → Radar: the home's stock · → Alfred, by voice

A setup that works

Camille and Hugo, with a three-week-old baby:

  • Tribe « Home »: Camille and Hugo. Medical calendar, baby stock in Radar, weekly meals, assigned tasks, La Caisse, chat for the « can you grab some milk? » that does not wake anyone.
  • Tribe « Grandparents »: Camille, Hugo and both sets of grandparents. Calendar of visits and childcare, photos on The Wall, chat for news. They see neither the stock nor the expenses.

On Monday Radar flags size 2 nappies running low: Hugo adds them to the list, stops at the pharmacy, logs the expense. On Wednesday the health visitor appointment sits in the calendar, assigned to Camille; the notes are attached that evening. On Sunday Hugo's mother offers to have the baby on Saturday: it goes in the grandparents tribe, and the couple watches a free evening appear.

What Zoku does not do

  • No tracking of feeds, sleep or nappies: there are excellent apps for that. Zoku organises the household, not the baby.
  • No medical advice. Appointments go in the calendar; answers come from your GP.
  • No continuous location. A check-in « gone to get milk » is enough.
  • Data encrypted in transit (TLS), hosted in Europe, exportable and deletable (GDPR).

FAQ - A new baby with Zoku

Is Zoku a baby-tracking app?

No. It tracks neither bottles nor naps. It organises what, around a baby, usually lands on one parent: appointments, stock, meals, tasks, budget.

Can tasks be assigned to share the load?

Yes. Every task in Check has a named owner. That is the difference between « someone should » and « Hugo is doing it », and the first step to lightening the mental load.

How do we stop running out of nappies?

In Radar, each nappy size is a product with a threshold. When the pack runs low, Zoku warns you and offers to add it to the shopping list.

Can we include the grandparents without showing them everything?

Yes, in a separate tribe: visits, childcare, photos. The couple's daily life stays in its own tribe.

Is it useful before the birth?

Yes: hospital bag list, baby purchases in La Caisse, antenatal appointments in the calendar. The tribe is ready on the day.

Is it free?

Yes. Calendar, assigned tasks, groceries, meals, La Caisse, Radar with one zone and chat are free. Attachments, ingredients to the list and extra stock zones are Premium.

The load gets shared from day one

Free on Android and iOS. No credit card.
